This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own ceremonial pardon event this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
