Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Real Supporters'

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they cannot be true Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight at home defeat of 2025.

But the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper gave away the ball well beyond his box.

He ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario again, some Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those jeering sessions truly irritated the manager.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are behind one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a early advantage before Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the role Vicario is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

He stated after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That goal was a mistake of mine, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger mountain to climb."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

While the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to continue their home ground woes.

This was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club statistic matching 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the year.

Just a single of those victories have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.
