Six Arrested Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with assault rifles and handguns used explosive devices to force entry into a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to affect France.

The audacious robbery was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with police forces quickly arresting the suspected perpetrators and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth 12 million euros (£10.5 million), according to officials.

Five workers of the precious metals facility sustained minor injuries as a result of the detonation, and three of them were transported to hospital for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, considered experienced criminals, were detained shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant who took part in the heist was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” the nation's interior minister declared on social media, praising officers for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were recovered as well.

The raid happened as authorities on the same day arrested five more suspects, including a primary suspect, in relation to this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Numerous detectives have been searching for four thieves who used a vehicle with a hydraulic lift and cutting gear to access a gallery on the first floor at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, making off with jewelry valued at approximately €88 million.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, stealing gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A young Chinese female was taken into custody recently in Barcelona, Spain in connection with the break-in, officials confirmed.

The string of thefts has generated apprehension in the nation regarding insufficient protection at museums and various establishments holding high-value objects.
