Los Angeles Experiences Record-Breaking High Temperatures Just One Week After Major Winter Storm.

In the wake of significant rainfall that led to inundation across areas in the city, the City of Angels is now seeing unseasonably hot temperatures for this time of year.

Record-Shattering Readings

By Friday afternoon, the temperature soared to ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in central LA, as reported by meteorologists. This breaks the old record for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was set in the previous year.

"Very warm conditions" were labeled on forecast charts for the region.

Public Health Warnings

The weather service issued a warning that Friday's weather posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for those at risk. Their guidance suggested:

• Staying hydrated.
• Limiting outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
• Ensuring you do not leave kids or animals unattended in a hot car.

A Dramatic Shift

This dramatic increase in heat arrives just after a massive winter storm that struck the region earlier in the week. That event unleashed high winds, thunderstorms, and significant snowfall to the mountains, leading to evacuation orders for countless residents.

Unfortunately, the conditions also caused a massive avalanche in the Lake Tahoe area, which left nine people dead from.

Forecast Ahead

Forecasters predict some relief is expected. The heat were predicted to decrease to around sixty-one degrees Fahrenheit in downtown LA by late Friday.

Several cities that reached 90°F included Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Elsewhere, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were forecast to reach the high eighties.

Over Saturday and Sunday, central Los Angeles can anticipate temperatures in the eighties, with cooler weather on tap for the following week.
