Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said debris fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
