Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

• 15 counts of assault.
• Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
• Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
• Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
• 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
