Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has announced a disaster situation - which is triggered by mass casualty, widespread structural damage, and interruption of income sources and everyday existence for residents of impacted regions.

This powerful storm, referred to locally as Tino, devastated the populous island of Cebu, inundating whole settlements and carrying vehicles down roads.

Many thousands of people were forced to evacuate, others are resting in designated safe zones.
